I’m Paula from Boss Lady Coaching.

Today’s topic we’ll be talking about how to overcome challenges in your business.

This morning I was doing one of the lessons in my own Level Up Boot Camp, and I came up to the point of how to overcome challenges in your business.

Obviously, I’m not going to reiterate the entire lesson of what I did, but just a little bit snippet. I thought it was really helpful to talk about when you do have challenges in your business on what you can do.

There are plenty of options out there now, especially after COVID.

The government has realized that people in small business can be really doing it tough. So they need those services out there and with the new small business I know here in Queensland, there’s a small business division that are really, really helpful towards small business and the things that they’re bringing out here.

I’m sure it’s fairly similar in other states, and it’s worth just having a look at your various networks or doing some Google searches around support for small business. It’s also helpful to reach out to people when you’re having some struggles having a coach that will help you along the way, having a business bestie as well that really understands.

So, you can have friends? Absolutely!

But if you don’t have friends in business, sometimes others just don’t understand really what you’re going through. To have a friend in business makes a huge difference, because business is a total up and down and a rollercoaster. Having somebody who rides that rollercoaster with you, someone who can really understand and be a great support network.

There are now also financial counsellors out there now for business. A few years back, especially when I was going through struggles and I needed it, there weren’t financial counsellors for business. The financial counsellors couldn’t help you if you had a business, they were only helping you with your personal finances.

Unfortunately, if your personal finances are struggling, then probably your business finances are struggling as well, because it means that you’re not drawing any income from your business because it’s struggling. So therefore, your personal finances are struggling, so you kind of need help with both.

It’s about reaching out to those people and really getting the help.

Don’t be afraid to get help because it’s so, so important. Also, don’t be afraid to just step away and say I’m done because you’ve got to do what’s right for you. Throughout the whole time of going through challenges in your business, keep asking yourself what is right for you and if right for you is walking away from your business, then do it.

But if you want to keep going, a lot of us, especially if we’re mums, we’ve done this to be flexible around our kids, so going into an employed position is probably not an ideal thing for us. Getting that flexibility that we need around our kids is probably not going to be offered in another position if you work for someone else. To keep thinking about what works for you and how it’s serving you is really, really important.

In summary, getting that help, finding support for what you need and thinking about what you need at that time. Self-care and looking after yourself is important – for me, meditation was my thing and it really got me through what I needed to get through.

So, find that little vice, find what you need and look after yourself.
